About Bakushotei Bakushotei Japanese Garden

Bakushotei, a Masterpiece Hotel Garden

This Japanese garden is comprised of a main garden with water scenery that includes a pond, stream, and a waterfall, as well as a dry garden made of white sand, along with an open area with a teahouse as its centerpiece.

The design of the garden evokes the scenery of the Seto Inland Sea, featuring its symbolic granite islands boldly protruding from the water and the 350-year-old black pine trees that grow on them. It was given the name “Bakushotei”, which means “Waterfall Pine Garden”, based on its distinctive pine and waterfall themes.

Impressive Garden Views from Lounge and Restaurant

The best place to view the garden is from the front of the lounge on the 1st floor, where you can see the dry garden in the foreground and Shosentei, a separate tatami room of the Japanese restaurant Iyoji in the background, which creates a very picturesque appearance.

The waterfall, which flows from ground level to underground, cannot be seen from the lounge, but the top of it can be viewed from the Japanese restaurant Iyoji, and the entirety of the waterfall can be viewed from the Chinese restaurant Ryugu, which is located on the basement level.
